Miss South Africa, Rolene Strauss, is leading the betting odds and since beginning of the competition, is the favourite contestant for the crown. She has also made to the top slot in most of the challenge events. She was the winner of a sports event called Dreaded Bleep Test. She notched the 10th position in "Beauty With a Purpose" competition and stood at 17th place in the Top Model contest.

Strauss is a medical student. She hopes to pursue MBA after completing her medicine degree, so that she can create a business with a focus on women's health. The 22-year-old maintains her body by indulging in various forms of sports including golf, netball and cycling. Strauss has always wanted to make her career in health care. She says that she has followed into her father's footsteps and was known as Little Dr Strauss in her young days, according to Oprahmag. She loves spending her December holidays in Hartenbos and has bountiful memories of the town.

"Miss South Africa is all about giving, and that's why I entered the competition. South Africa is my pride. I am who I am because of our country and the opportunities she has given me. It is now time to start giving back," the brunette beauty said to Oprahmag about her reason to enter the competition.

Earlier this year, the South African beauty faced criticism for gaining weight, as reported by Missosology. A press statement was issued on the Miss SA official Facebook page, saying that Strauss has begun her preparations with health and fitness as her main priority.

She is also amongst the top 10 contestants of The People's Choice. The voting for People's Choice began on Nov. 20. It is a global voting platform, which allows the pageant fans to cast their vote and pick their top three contestants.

Miss World 2014 final will take place on Dec. 14 in London. The reigning Miss World Megan Young will crown the winner. It will be broadcast LIVE across the world on Sunday from 14:30 - 17:00 GMT. There are 122 delegates who will be competing for the crown.
