The final moments of the 64th edition of Miss Universe were dramatic, as host Steve Harvey first awarded the Miss Universe 2015 crown to Miss Columbia, and then to the real winner, Miss Philippines.

On Sunday night, Miss Columbia, Ariadna Gutierrez, was initially crowned Miss Universe 2015 because Harvey first announced her name as the winner. Miss Columbia and her supporters' celebrations, however, were cut short when Harvey realised his big mistake. The crown and the winner's tag belonged to Miss Philippines, Pia Wurtzbach.

By the time Harvey realised his mistake, Miss Columbia was already crowned Miss Universe 2015 winner. Miss Universe 2014 Paulina Vega had to remove the crown from Miss Colombia's head to crown Miss Philippines this year's Miss Universe winner.

Harvey said that he is taking the responsibility for the mistake and showed the Miss Universe decision card that featured Miss Philippines' name as the winner.

After the Miss Universe 2015 coronation ceremony, Harvey received a lot of flak for the blunder on social media. One of the posters said that Harvey has lost his job. Harvey, on the other hand, was quick to apologise for the mishap on his social media account. He, however, ended up in another controversy, as he spelled “Philippines” as “Philippians.” The original tweet has since been deleted.

There were also hilarious memes posted over the Internet. In one such meme, Taylor Swift’s face was pasted on Miss Colombia’s head, while Miss Universe 2014 winner was sporting Kanye West’s face. West is shown removing the crown to transfer it to Miss Philippines who is wearing Beyonce's face.

Some Twitter members told the bashers to stop berating Harvey since the host has apologised personally to Miss Philippines, while others said not to make a big deal out of it.
