The countdown for the most beautiful event in the universe starts now with 88 beauty queens from around the world have landed in Miami for the 63rd Miss Universe pageant. The annual event, to be held in Doral, Miami on Jan. 25, is scheduled to kick off on Friday, Jan. 9, as the ladies will be introduced to the public for the first time at the Downtown Doral Park after the arrival, registration and fitting of contestants.

Beauties from all corners of the world started arriving in Miami on Monday, Jan. 5, as they prepare for the pageant's preliminary competition, which includes swimsuit, evening gown and interview rounds all happening on Jan. 21, Wednesday. All women will have a busy week ahead of them for touring, filming, photoshoots and rehearsals as they prepare for the preliminary rounds.

The Miss Universe contestants will be showcasing their catwalk prowess at Chinese Laundry's spring 2014 collection on Saturday, Jan. 10, to test their modelling skills. The ladies are going to wear their dancing shoes for their first salsa dancing lessons in Salsa with Miss Universe in Solare Garden that will be happening on the same day.

On Sunday, Jan. 11, they will enjoy an interactive painting event with pop artist Romero Britto and will take part in Miss Universe Celebration of Nations Parade and Festival. After the full day event, the ladies will enjoy an afternoon full of food carts, dancing and live music as they mingle with the locals and other contestants.

Highlights for the upcoming days include a golf tournament, cooking contest and a visit to FFP, the country's largest international charity that serves the poor countries in Latin American and the Caribbean, with reining MU queen Gabriela Isler. Another main event of the pageant is the Yamamay swimsuit fashion show for the girls to prepare for the final swimsuit competition.

An annual Miss Universe gifting auction is scheduled on Jan. 14 at the InterContinental Hotel where the contestants are asked to bring a gift from their country to be donated to a silent auction to support their selected charity. This year's auction proceeds will go to Best Buddies, a long-term partner of the Miss Universe Organization.

After almost a month of non-stop preparation, the Miss Universe 2014 finals will be held at the FIU Arena on Sunday, Jan. 25, where the next Miss Universe queen will be crowned. After reigning for more than a year, Miss Universe 2013 Gabriela Isler will crown her successor with the new MU crown made by Diamonds International Corporation.
