Top Four Picks for Miss Universe 2013

1. Miss USA

Erin Brady unquestionably has both beauty and brains to win the coveted crown. This financial accountant graduated with honors from Central Connecticut State University. She has come off with flying colors despite being having many hardships and family problems. Considering Miss Universe 2012 is an American, expectations are high from Brady. Recently, she is a great supporter of breast cancer awareness program in association with Bright Pink.

"As Miss USA, our platform is breast cancer and ovarian cancer awareness and education. The event is going to be held on Sunday and they are expecting a lot of people to go which is great. It's beautiful." Brady said in an interview with NECN.

Her goal to be an advocate for children of alcohol addicts is deeply influenced by her own childhood.

"I grew up in a family influenced by that and I think it's really important to help the children of families that are suffering from those problems," she noted.

2. Miss Australia

Olivia Wells is a strong contender for Miss Universe 2013. This aspiring pediatrician hails from Melbourne, Australia. This die-hard fan of "Les Miserables" is also a philanthropist. She is a cooking aficionado and writes a blog, "The Procrasti-baker."

In an interview in the August issue of "The Weekly," the owl-obsessed medical student and baker answers the question why she joined the beauty contest.

"People have this perception that all beauty queens are airheads and medical students are nerds who sit in their rooms and study all day. But the two are not mutually exclusive," she said in the interview.

"I like to study, but I also like to dress up. I think, in life, rounding is the most important thing," she added.

3. Miss Philippines

As predicted Ariella Arida has become one of the hot picks for Miss Universe 2013 crown. She reminds us of Sushmita Sen, and she is definitely gorgeous. Recently, Megan Young from the Philippines was crowned Miss World 2013, so all eyes are apparently fixated on Arida now. Arida gave Rappler an exclusive one-on-one interview in which she revealed many aspects of her life.

"I never thought that one day this dream of mine (to be a beauty queen) would come true. I was sporty when I was young. My friends will tell you I was boyish. I never wore heels until I was 21," she said, explaining her tomboyish nature.

"After college, I modeled for a year. I was a technical sales executive. When the opportunity to join Bb. Pilipinas (local beauty pageant) came, I had to resign from my job and focus on the competition. Thank God my hard work paid off!," she added.

"They (Aces & Queens) saw my potential of becoming a beauty queen someday. At first, I really didn't think I could do it. I didn't even place in my first (small) pageant. I thought it wasn't for me. They believed there was something in me and that I could do it. They taught me everything - how to walk in heels, how to pose, how to answer, how to mingle with people," she explained her training with Aces & Queens.

4. Miss Russia

Elmira Abdrazakova looked masculine in her national pageant but she has enhanced her persona and honed her skills over the months. She has a spunky vibe that makes her masculine side very appealing. She will most probably make it to the top due to it being in Russia.

We will see who will have the tiara sparkling on her head on Nov 9, 2013.
