As we have already reported that Ariella Arida might complete the trifecta with Mutya Datul (Mutya Johanna Datul (21) won the crown for Miss Supranational 2013) and Megan Young (23-year-old Megan Lynne Young became the first Miss World from the Philippines in the pageants history).

Now one more noteworthy fact is that not one or two, but three candidates with Filipino blood will contend in this year's Miss Universe pageant. This will be the 62nd Miss Universe pageant. It will be held on Nov. 9, 2013 at the Crocus City Hall in Moscow and this will mark the first time Russia will host the event. Olivia Culpo, Miss Universe 2012 from the U.S.A. will crown her successor at the end of the splendid event. Let us explore more about all the three Filipinas in Miss Universe 2013:

1. Ariella Arida, the Philippines' official delegate to the international contest is looking forward to develop cordial relationship with her fellow Filipinas at Miss Universe.

In an interview on the late-night newscast "Bandila" on Wednesday, she said "Nakakatuwa na, unang naisip ko, 'Uy, meron na akong makakausap sa Miss Universe.' Mga friends ko, sabi nila, 'O, may friend ka na diyan.' Sabi nila, 'Mas maganda, mas madali kang makaka-mingle sa ibang girls kasi may makakausap ka na."

Ariella is working hard to win the coveted crown and her efforts are reflecting in her recent twitter post:

2. Riza Santos, who became a household name in the Philippines as a "Pinoy Big Brother" housemate, was crowned as Miss Universe Canada.

Miss Universe Canada: Riza Santos

Her father, Ruel Santos, hails from Bulacan and her mother, Dina Buenaventura, is from Bataan so the 25-year-old Santos is a pure Filipina despite being raised in Canada. She also won other titles like the country's Miss Earth in 2006, and Miss World in 2011.

3. Ruth Jennifer Ondo Mouchita, the third contender for Miss Universe 2013 is reportedly half-Filipina, and can speak Tagalog fluently.

Miss Gabon: Ruth Jennifer Ondo Mouchita

Crowned in Dec. 2012 as Miss Gabon a comparatively a newcomer to the Miss Universe pageant as the African country of Gabon, will send Mouchita as only the second official delegate from Gabon to join Miss Universe since the country's 2012 debut in the 62-year-old international contest.

In 2011, three Filipina beauties competed in the same contest: Philippines Gwendoline Ruais completed first runner-up in the Miss World pageant, Santos was in the Top 30 and Denmark's Maya Olesen, (also a half-Filipina) competed in the same contest.

So this isn't the first time that more than one Filipina competed in the same international pageant. We think this trifecta will work as catalyst and stimulate the reaction and would change the contest equation. What do you think reader?
