Miss Universe 2015 first runner-up Ariadna Gutierrez has finally forgiven pageant presenter Steve Harvey. In a guest appearance in Harvey’s eponymous talk show, Miss Colombia told the American show host that the incident was “the worst night of my life.”

In her first meeting with Harvey since the Miss Universe fiasco, Gutierrez, 21, listened to him as he tearfully told her how sorry he was after his major announcement blunder. He mistakenly announced Gutierrez as the winner of Miss Universe 2015. Then, after the Colombian beauty was already crowned, he admitted on stage that the real winner was Miss Philippines, Pia Wurtzbach.

“This finally gives me a chance to have a moment of closure. I wanted you to understand sincerely from my heart how I am as a person, that I would never do that as a publicity stunt,” an emotional Harvey apologised to Gutierrez, repeatedly asking for her forgiveness.

Gutierrez candidly told Harvey that the incident was a nightmare for her. And like Harvey, she also had sleepless nights following the Dec. 20 event.

“It was the worst night of my life, but, at the same time, it was the best one,” she admitted.

It was an emotional reunion, but Miss Colombia was able to elicit a laugh from the 58-year-old host as well.

“You have to learn how to read cards!” she quipped.

She also explained why Harvey announced the wrong name that night, saying, “You wanted me to win.”

“Yes!” Harvey laughed. “Yeah, that’s it. I wanted you to win. I could leave it at that.”

The two embraced earlier when Harvey introduced Gutierrez. The part two of the episode “Miss Universe: The Truth,” in which Gutierrez guest starred, will air Tuesday in the US. The first episode aired Monday.

Meanwhile, Miss Australia Monika Radulovic, who placed fifth in the competition, claimed to Triple M’s “The Grill Team” on Monday that the top 3 Miss Universe winners – Wurtzbach, Gutierrez and Miss USA Olivia Jordan – were the only ones who weren’t nice to the other girls in the pageant.
