“Minecraft” is definitely expanding its reach. Even with updates for the original game still pouring in, developer Mojang has already announced that the popular building game will now be available as a VR experience.

Over at the Mojang website, the developer confirmed that it will be rolling out a free update to “Minecraft Windows 10 Edition Beta.” What this update will do is enable “Minecraft” playable on the Oculus Rift. All that’s needed is to download the bespoke launcher from the Oculus store to get the “Minecraft” VR experience started.

From the looks of it, the developer has tweaked a few more aspects of the “Minecraft VR” edition earlier released for the Gear VR to make it even more impressive.

Here’s a glimpse of the new features coming to “Minecraft VR” on Windows 10:

  • Innate keyboard and mouse support!
  • VR control options for immersive comfortable turning with the Xbox One controller!
  • Fancy-pants graphics stuff, like MSAA for crisp visuals, new render distance settings that will make use of powerful VR graphics cards, and optimized Windows 10 DX11 performance!
  • Even more granular customisation of VR settings, so you can mix-n-match for personalised comfort!

These are the additional features, as previously developed ones will also come to “Minecraft Windows 10 Beta Edition” on VR. Some of these features include the Virtual Livingroom for those who want to take a mild break from the VR experience without stepping out of the immersion, there are also tweaks in movement, turning modes and jumps, all of which are set to improve the in-game experience.

VR developer Mike McGrath also shared over the official Windows Blog that the Windows 10 DX11 performance has been optimised to ensure that it will complement the VR experience.

“We hope the VR experience in ‘Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta’ will illuminate just how powerful, evocative and utterly immersive VR can really be, whether you’re a new player or a ‘Minecraft’ veteran,” said McGrath.
