Minecraft, Markus “Notch” Persson’s sandbox independent video game, has recently ranked number one in the list of top 20 game franchises on YouTube in February with 3.9 million total monthly views and 99.9 percent views of fan videos.

The list was jointly released by Octoly, the leading brand management software for YouTube, and Newzoo, a provider of provide independent games industry market data and analysis. The recent list was their second monthly ranking.

Ranking second in the list is Grand Theft Auto with 1 million total monthly views followed by Five Nights At Freddy’s at number three with 954 million views, League Of Legends at number four with 636 million views, Call Of Duty at number five with 607 million views.

Also in the list of Octoly-Newzoo top 20 game franchises on YouTube are Garry’s Mod, Angry Birds, Clash Of Clans, Counter-Strike, Dota 2, RuneScape, Battlefield, Destiny, Team Fortress, World Of Tanks, Mortal Kombat, Assassin’s Creed, Just Dance and The Elder Scrolls.

In total, all the Octoly-Newzoo top 20 game franchises on YouTube garnered 10.77 billion monthly views in February, with Minecraft having 40 percent of the total and Grand Theft Auto with 10 percent of it.

Meanwhile, a YouTube video titled “Minecraft: Notch Land – BEST GAMES EVER! [18]” has recently gone viral. Published on April 18, the 15-minute video has been viewed almost 900,000 times with more than 21,000 likes. Watch it here:
