Coders Rest In The Office Of Swedish Company Mojang In Stockholm
Coders rest in the Mojang company office in Stockholm January 21, 2013. A pool table, a pinball machine, board games and Lego dot the offices of Mojang, the small Swedish company behind the wildly popular Minecraft video game, and one of its founders is wearing a tuxedo and purple tie on a recent "formal Friday". The atmosphere reflects the independent spirit that has contributed to the raw identity of the game that has just sold 20 million copies. The founders want to keep it that way. Mojang, the Swedish word for gadget, has so far resisted selling to a bigger player or listing on the stock market even though that could mean monster payoffs for the 25-person staff and funding to expand dramatically its games. The debut of "Minecraft" on next-gen consoles Xbox One and PS4 this year was just the beginning for the franchise. Despite many updates and a new acquisition, there's another thing coming for fans of the building game.

Developer Mojang announced its collaboration with exquisite storyteller-developer Telltale Games in making "Minecraft: Story Mode." In a blog post from Mojang, the developer teased the collaboration with Info Quest II, where you get bits of the project step-by-step.

More details were given, such as the fact that it will be a narrative-driven title that will be highly based on what the "Minecraft" community expects from the franchise. The title will be episodic, with the first one already planned for released on 2015 for both last-gen and next-gen consoles, PC and Mac and also iOS and Android devices. The game is not meant to create an origin story for "Minecraft," but the developer did not go into further detail.

In a separate blog post this time over at Telltale Games' website, the collaborating developer has confirmed that the upcoming "Minecraft: Story Mode" is not an add-on, but rather a stand-alone project that will become a new game coming out in 2015 for consoles, PC and mobile devices. This also means new characters taking inspiration from the Minecraft community to make for an entirely new Minecraft experience.

Before "Minecraft: Story Mode" arrives, however, fans on the Xbox One and Xbox 360 have just gotten some big updates for "Minecraft." The "Minecraft 1.6.4 update" will be bringing in new features that have been teased for the past few weeks, starting with horses.

A Tutorial World has been released to demo all the necessary steps to know what features are coming with the update. Detailed over the Xbox Wire, some of the features coming with the "Minecraft 1.6.4 update" include the following:

- Tame, ride and name horses

- Equip them with horse armour

- Run away from Wither Skeletons, Witches, and Bats using horses

- Build and play with fireworks

Apart from the new features are also new items, including hardened and stained clay, block of coal, hay bale, block of redstone, daylight sensor, beacon, horse spawn egg, dropper, firework rocket and star, Minecart with Hopper and Minecraft with TNT, among others. There are also new mobs of Withers, Wither Skeletons, witches, bats, horses, donkeys and mules.

A lot is coming with "Minecraft" even after Microsoft's acquisition of the franchise. What's good is that it's not only still out for players of both consoles, but it appears that there's more to come to expand the "Minecraft" community.
