The Minecraft Pocket Edition is currently available on Android and will also receive Oculus Rift support. The game can be downloaded via Google Play, while the virtual reality (VR) headset will allow gamers to enjoy a more dynamic kind of environment to explore.

However, the new Oculus Rift support on “Minecraft” Pocket Edition is exclusive for PCs that operate on the latest Microsoft OS. Players are also required to upgrade their OS to Windows 10.

Neurogadget revealed that “Minecraft” Pocket Edition generally follows the same approach as the original version, which involves building structures, gathering resources and battling enemies in a three-dimensional environment. The game was developed by Mojang and purchased by Microsoft in 2014. Players can create their own worlds in “Minecraft,” as well as play with friends.

According to The Verge, on the first anniversary of the game’s release on Windows 10 that the Oculus Rift support will be a free update. The game actually offered support for Samsung Gear VR before in April 2016. Oculus Rift has more to offer like external camera tracking, thereby giving “Minecraft” Pocket Edition players to have a more unique and comfortable experience.

So far, those who have tried playing “Minecraft” on both the Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR have mixed reactions. The game has only been spotted using a standard Xbox gamepad while using the Oculus Rift and the approach is expected to remain the same. There are no updates regarding the Touch motion controller at the moment.

The Oculus Rift is currently priced at $599, which is quite expensive for many players. Individuals who wish to play “Minecraft” Pocket Edition via virtual reality will have to invest more, although the support is offered for free at the moment. Even upgrading to Windows 10 comes at a fee because the free version was only available until the end of July 2016.

Oculus Connect is set to release in October 2016, which may provide more ways of enjoying VR gaming. “Minecraft” is also available on iOS but no support for VR gaming is available on the OS at present. More updates and details on “Minecraft” Pocket Edition are expected soon.
