The newly engaged Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth stepped out together for the first time since the infamous proposal. The couple was spotted at the "Australians In Film Awards and Benefit Dinner" that was held at the Inter Continental Hotel in Century City, California. "The Hunger Games" actor received a "Breakthough Award" at the event where he gained recognition in the movie industry for his work in international films.

"We are delighted to honor Liam Hemsworth with the 2012 Breakthrough Award. The string of his upcoming films demonstrates an undeniable star power. From The Expendables 2 and Paranoia to Arabian Nights, we believe this is only the beginning for him," AiF President Andrew Warne said of the organization's selection.

Even though Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are newly engaged and blissfully in love with each other, it did not give enough excuse as the couple go on a head-to-head bidding war in a charity auction later on in the evening. A charity auction was held with the late Heath Ledger's collection of limited edition fine art photographs. The late Australian actor appeared with fellow actress Rose Byrne in the photograph which was signed and numbered by its photographer, Rupert Thorpe. The pictures were taken during a trip to Las Vegas back in 1999 shortly after Heath Ledger completed his work in "Two Hands." Ledger unexpectedly died in 2008 from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs. The actor left behind a beautiful daughter named Matilda from his relationship with actress Michelle Williams.

After several furious outbreaks of bidding back and forth, Miley Cyrus eventually won at the end. "I win, I'm done," Cyrus declared after her massive final bid of $22,000. The series of seven fine art prints will be donated in Cyrus's name to a forthcoming Heath Ledger Exhibition at the Western Australia Museum.
