The much-awaited Windows Phone 8.1 for mobile devices will be released in June and the support for this OS will be provided for the next three years, says Microsoft.

Windows Phone 8.1

The company said that it will launch Windows Phone 8.1 for the existing Windows Phone 8 devices on June 24, 2014. Notably, a wide range of new smartphones with the pre-installed software is lined-up for future release.

Although Windows Phone 8.1 has not released yet, information about Windows 9 is already floating around the internet space.

Windows 9 and Windows 365

According to Myce (via BGR), a leaked image from Neowin forum shows that Microsoft is working on several Windows versions simultaneously. That includes, a mobile Windows Phone 9 version and a cloud-based operating system named Windows 365.

The leaked information says, other than Windows 9 and Windows 365, the current products listed are Office 2013 and Windows 8.1. Also the upcoming software updates include Windows 8.1 (Update 2) and Office 2015.

The new 'Windows 365' is presently in the 'alpha development' state and it is based on 'Windows Core'. This indicates the possibility that this new OS version could come as a subscription model that would allow the installation on multiple devices. But there is no additional information available pertaining to this particular Windows version at this point in time.

If rumors were to be believed, the Windows 9 might come as a free update to all the existing Windows 8.1 owners.

Office 365

Microsoft announced that the Office 365 suite will be made available free of charge for Australian non-profit organizations. According to Winbeta, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department in the U.S. switched from Google Apps to Office 365.

Recently released Office tools include 'Office Mix' which is used to transform static PowerPoint presentations into interactive online lessons. Also, the 'Power View' for Office provides advanced forecasting options. Additionally, Microsoft updated their cloud service 'OneDrive' with numerous features.
