Latest reports doing rounds on the Internet claim that Microsoft could be releasing the Surface Pro 5 and Surface Phone together in 2017. The company is surely one of the biggies in the industry today and if these reports turn out to be true, Microsoft could be having a much bigger 2017.

Fans have been waiting eagerly for the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 and the Microsoft Surface Phone to be released. Tech enthusiasts have come up with innumerable theories, release dates and anticipated specs and features of the devices. Fans were hoping that at least one of the devices would be released before 2016 ends.

According to The Bitbag, the Microsoft Surface Phone and Microsoft Surface Pro 5 may be announced as early as February 2017. This could be a double bonanza for Microsoft fans and the best New Year surprise they could think of. However, Microsoft has not made any official announcement on the same and this somewhat disappointing.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 could come powered by Intel’s Kaby Lake processor. This would surely be an upgrade from the existing Skylake chipset. The device may also come equipped with a Surface Pen. A new dock in the main device will charge the Pen. USB Type-C ports may also be included, writes iTech Post.

Tech enthusiasts believe Microsoft will go for a major display upgrade too and surprise fans with a 4K/UHD display feature with a screen resolution of 3860 x 2560 pixels. The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will come with a hefty price tag. The basic model of Surface Pro 4 sold for US$899 (AU$1,210). This price went up to US$2,000 (AU$2,700), depending on the configuration.

The Surface Phone could be Microsoft’s last chance to take a shot at Apple’s iPhone. This product may allow full versions of Windows software to run on an ARM processor.
