Microsoft has sold out its newly launched Surface Book on the company’s online retail store ahead of the hybrid’s official release on Oct. 26. The innovative laptop-tablet hybrid cleared its initial pre-order stock within five days since its reveal.

It seems all five versions of the new 13.5-inch Surface Book with a detachable display screen sold out in the initial week. Surface Book comes in both Intel Core i5 and Core i7 options.

“We’ve seen strong demand for Surface Book and have sold out of pre-order supply for October 26 availability”, said a company spokesperson, as reported by Market Watch. Microsoft changed the pre-order button on its website to read “Email me when available”. But today, the Microsoft Store again displays the pre-order button with expected shipment in 5-6 weeks.

The news report also listed the views of industry experts who opined it’s difficult to understand if the device sold out because of high demand or because the company didn’t provide sufficient supply.

In this context, Microsoft encountered a $900 million write-down because of poor performance of Surface RT, reports The Verge. The company managed to sell only one million units out of five million Surface RT tablets in the fourth quarter.

Microsoft claims Surface Book, its first hybrid, is twice as fast as the MacBook Pro. Surface Book can be purchased from the company’s physical retail stores, as well as from Microsoft’s retail partners Amazon, Best Buy and Fry’s Electronics.

Best Buy isn’t taking pre-orders right now. Those interested, however, can place pre-orders for Surface Book’s Intel Core i5 8 GB and 128 GB models at Amazon.
