According to reports, Microsoft is gearing up to release a "Gold edition" of its Lumia handsets in China on Jan. 8. Apparently, two Lumia smartphones namely the Microsoft Lumia 930 and the Microsoft Lumia 830 will be available in Gold hue. Furthermore, following the release in China, the special Gold edition smartphones will reportedly be released in other markets as well.

The gold-clad image of the Lumia handset was first spotted by NPU and later picked up by GSM Arena to tell the story. Going by the leaked image, a Lumia handset, most probably the Lumia 830, is shown adorned in Gold and leather. This image was reportedly leaked by a Weibo user named "Nokia171". Interested readers should head to GSM Arena to check out the handset in Gold colour and also to take a look at the sophisticated leather back of the same handset.

Moving on to the key Lumia 830 features, the handset comes with a 5.0-inch IPS LCD display, complemented by 720 x 1,280 pixels screen resolution. Under the hood, the device is powered by a quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 400) processor, clocked at 1.2 GHz and backed by 1 GB of RAM. On the software end, the smartphone runs on Windows Phone 8.1 OS.

When it comes to memory specification, the handset comes equipped with 16 GB of internal storage capacity and microSD card support for expansion up to 128 GB. Furthermore, there is a 10 MP PureView camera bundled with Carl Zeiss optics and optical image stabilisation feature on board. Lastly, the whole configurations is held together and powered by a 2,200 mAh battery unit.

On the other hand, the Lumia 930 comes with a 5.0-inch AMOLED display, similar to the Lumia 830. However, the resolution is improved to 1,080 x 1,920 pixels. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by a relatively better quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 800) processor, clocked at 2.2 GHz and backed by 2 GB of RAM. Meanwhile, the software side is taken care by the Windows Phone 8.1 OS. As far as the memory goes, the Lumia 930 houses 32 GB of internal storage with no microSD card support.

Moving on to the camera configuration, there is a whopping 20 MP PureView unit with Carl Zeiss optics and optical image stabilization support. Lastly, the handset comes equipped with a modest 2420 mAh battery unit.
