Microsoft’s mighty Windows 10 Mobile OS and Windows 10 for desktop PCs have reportedly made it to over 200 million devices world-wide. However, the tech giant is apparently not doing well when it comes to amassing smartphone market share.

Recently, Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella spoke to BuzzFeed News about the problem areas and the plans for future. He reportedly admitted that Windows market share is "unsustainable." But then, he feels, the company should concentrate on “services” instead of relying entirely on the “devices.”

Nadella also pin pointed that “market share” should not be considered as the only benchmark to evaluate success. The overall “mobile experience” offered by various “services” should also be reckoned.

He reportedly said, "I think we do ourselves a disservice if we measure our success by just looking at: What’s the market share of HoloLens? What’s the market share of Xbox? What’s the market share of PCs? What’s the market share of our phones?"

“If you think of this more like a graph, these [devices] are all nodes. Sometimes the user will use all of these devices … sometimes they’ll use only one or two of our devices and some other platforms — so be it. But we want to make sure that we are completing the experience across all of these devices,” he added.

When it comes to overall user experience, Microsoft introduced the one-of-a-kind “Continuum” feature in Windows 10. As the name implies, Continuum retains the computing experience regardless of the device or location. This service will allow Windows 10 users to experience consistent user interface and familiar way of operation across devices, Win Beta noted.

In general, BuzzFeed News says, Microsoft’s cloud business is growing by leaps and bounds. Plus, the company is seemingly profitable, thanks to the productivity suite like Office and console like Xbox. This also means, except for the OS market share, Microsoft seems to be on the right track.
