Even though the Microsoft Band has been a very popular wearable device, it has remained out of stock on the online Microsoft Store. However, the smartband is finally available for purchase online as Microsoft has started taking preorders for the Microsoft Band.

In January, the International Business Times had reported that the Microsoft Band was made available only at the retail outlets of Microsoft Store, but not online. However, it is only now that Microsoft has made it available online for only those customers who had registered to receive availability notifications of Microsoft Band.

The official Microsoft Band webpage still shows the device is out of stock. Hence, those customers who had left their email address on the Microsoft Band page to receive its arrival update are eligible to purchase the device, says Win Beta. Microsoft has sent them an official email that contains a link to purchase the device online.

Those who have signed up through email are also allowed to pick up their wearable by visiting the retail outlet of Microsoft Store. As of this writing, Microsoft is not accepting pre-order registrations for new stock.

The stock is limited as Microsoft only intends to sell one unit per customer. Windows Central reports that once all the signed up customers are provided with the Band, it will be made available for the general public. Currently, all the size variants of the smartband are available for pre-order. It is listed with a price tag of $199. The first batch of shipments will begin after March 17.

Those people who did not register for availability notifications will not be able to buy the smartband. The preorders are only available for the U.S. citizens. This shows that the customers outside the U.S. will have to wait longer to purchase it. The Band is expected to be available with an expensive price tag for the rest of the world.

Have you received an email from Microsoft for purchasing the smartband? Have you purchased the Microsoft Band already? Is it available at the retail store near you? Do let us know by posting your comments.
