Sabine Kehm, the manager of Michael Schumacher, rubbished the report stating that the retired seven-time Formula One (F1) world champion is able to move and walk again. According to Kehm, the recent claim is ‘irresponsible’ and not true.

On Tuesday, German news portal Bunte.de reported that Schumacher had lost a significant amount of weight, looking “very thin,” almost two years after the skiing accident. The report further stated, quoting a source close to the situation, that the 46-year-old is able to walk a few steps with the help of his therapist and can even raise his arm.

However, Kehm was quick to rebuke the claims. She said that the recent press report gives “false hopes to many people involved.”

“Unfortunately, we are forced by a recent press report to clarify that the assertion that Michael could move again is not true,” Kehm, who has been the family’s spokesperson said in an interview as quoted by the Sydney Morning Herald. “Such speculation is irresponsible because given the seriousness of his injuries, Michael’s privacy is very important to him.”

Meanwhile, a few fans took to Twitter to express their dismay over the lack of official updates about Schumacher’s health condition. Since it was announced that Schumacher had been undergoing extensive rehabilitation in his Lake Geneva mansion, there has been no clear news about his improvement.

On Dec. 29, 2013, Schumacher suffered a skiing accident while vacationing with his family in the French Alps. He sustained severe head injuries from the accident and was put in a medically-induced coma. After emerging from the coma in April 2014, he has been receiving round-the-clock medical care from a team of doctors, nurses and therapists at home.
