Olympian Michael Phelps' lover released a shocking development as she admits she was born intersex unbeknownst to the American swimmer. Taylor Lianne Chandler had a publicised affair with the controversial sports figure before Phelps voluntarily entered rehab in October. The voluntary admission to a health facility came after the athlete's second driving under the influence, or DUI, arrest.

Chandler, who was born David Roy Fitch, revealed to Radar Online the details of her personal life, saying she was born with ambiguous outside genitalia. The 41-year-old came into the world with the male genitalia with no testicles and a uterus with no ovaries. During her teenage years, she decided to have surgery to fully embrace the female genitalia and change her identity to Paige Victoria Whitney. Chandler also confirmed the story in her Facebook page where she posted a status update that confirms the story and admits she might lose Phelps who already knew the truth through an e-mail she sent.

"I will probably lose him, which hurts like hell. I might lose some of you as friends and I will have to accept that. To the men in my past, what you saw, whom you loved, is who I am regardless of labels that the media tries to throw on my back," Chandler posted in her Facebook page.

Phelps and Chandler met last August through social dating site Tinder and hooked up at Phelps' Baltimore home to watch a football game. She also revealed they had physical contact at halftime of the game that led to a steamy love affair. After that, she reveals they did the deed again and that was the very first time someone made her feel like a complete woman.

Phelps' camp has not yet commented on the said issue, and Chandler readily admits this development will probably cut her ties with the 29-year-old superstar swimmer. While Chandler initially broke the news to her lover, Phelps has not returned any of her messages.

Michael Phelps' rehab program is still ongoing following his DUI arrest on Sept. 30. The incident occurred in Baltimore, Maryland after an eight-hour gambling binge. The most decorated Olympian of all time was generally remorseful of his behaviour and took it upon himself to seek treatment. While he said swimming is his priority, he admitted he had to give more focus on his personal life before he can embark on the comeback into the swimming scene.
