World No. 1 Novak Djokovic has advanced into the quarterfinals of the 2015 Miami Open. Djokovic won in a thrilling match against Alexander Dolgopolov, 6-7(3) 7-5 6-0, on March 31 as he continued his campaign to defend his title and win his fifth Miami Open title at Crandon Park Tennis Centre.

Djokovic fired two of his 10 aces during the first set. He won 56 percent of his first service games as compared with Dolgopolov’s 62 percent. Both players managed to break each other twice, but Dolgopolov closed the first set after a tie-break.

Dolgopolov initially took control of the second set, with Djokovic trailing behind, 4-2. The match headed towards a third rubber after Djokovic broke the Ukrainian. He capitalised on four of his five break point opportunities and eventually won the second set.

In the final set, Djokovic won 24 of the total 27 points, which is equivalent to 88 percent, to finally seal the victory. The match lasted for one hour and 58 minutes.

Djokovic admitted that it was a tough match as it was one of those days that he wasn’t feeling “great” mentally, but he found a way to win the match. Djokovic is now on a nine-match winning streak since claiming his 50th career title at the BNP Paribas Open.

"I was frustrated," Djokovic said after the match. "I was losing my composure in the first set because I didn't feel good so I was just trying to find a way to come back in the match."

Djokovic will face David Ferrer in the last eight. Ferrer booked a spot in the quarterfinals after beating Gilles Simon in straight sets, 7-6 6-0. It will be the 19th time that Djokovic and Ferrer will meet on professional tour. The last time that the pair had met was in the quarterfinals of the Shanghai Open in 2014. Djokovic leads their head-to-head record 13-5.
