"The Mentalist" Season 7, Episode 6, titled "Green Light," airs Wednesday, Jan. 7, on CBS. This week's new episode is the first to take the Wednesday primetime slot in the network. Patrick Jane and company took the Sunday slot from "The Good Wife," but Julianna Margulies' Alicia Florrick has taken Sundays back from Jan. 4.

Spoiler alert: This update contains The Mentalist Season 7 spoilers. Read at your own risk if you have not watched the previous episodes.

Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) and Teresa Lisbon (Robin Tunney) re-opened a case involving the death of a colonel's (Wiley Pickett) wife in The Mentalist Season 7, Episode 5. This is another Jane-Lisbon episode, but the next episode turns the spotlight to FBI Special Agent Dennis Abbott (Rockmond Dunbar).

"A DEA raid goes badly and the FBI is asked to consult on it, but Abbott's put in a sticky situation when his old boss attempts to blackmail him into protecting the DEA," reads the episode synopsis for The Mentalist Season 7, Episode 6 on TV.com.

Meanwhile, Tim Kang, who plays Agent Kimball Cho, has updated his followers on Twitter regarding the filming schedule of the show's final season. The actor tweeted, "The Mentalist on Stage 14 is done."

Among the new stories awaiting resolution is Jane and Lisbon's discussion on leaving the FBI. Lisbon is not enthusiastic about the idea, but Jane is thinking the two of them could use an extended holiday.

The new agent on board, Michelle Vega (Josie Loren) is getting used to the FBI dynamics involving Jane. After a big misstep, she has begun to get closer to Cho, which makes some fans wonder whether she would be the one who would make Cho smile more in the final season of The Mentalist. (Kang earlier announced on Twitter that Cho will be smiling more this season.)

Another developing story is Dunbar's history in the institution. It is implied in The Mentalist Season 7, Episode 5 that Dunbar has made serious mistakes in the past. These mistakes are now haunting him, forcing him to fake some marital problems so his wife's impending promotion would not be affected.

In the next new episode, the viewers are likely to know more about Dunbar's history. Jane and Lisbon are expected to know this, and the two could help Abbott in his tricky predicament.

The Mentalist Season 7 airs Wednesdays on CBS.
