Pocahontas has nothing on Melissa McCarthy. The 45-year-old former “Gilmore Girls” actress has joined the titular host of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” in a two-round Lip Sync Battle that perfectly displayed her superb comedic skills.

On Monday in the US, guest star McCarthy crushed the late night presenter in the show’s popular segment, in which contenders lip sync popular songs. It was a slow start, with Fallon performing the 1971 song “Brand New Key” by singer Melanie. It was an enjoyable song but perhaps unfamiliar to the younger audiences.

McCarthy then took on DMX’s “X Go’ Give It To Ya,” showing off her hip-hop posing skills. The competition was heating up by then, but the real fun started in the second round.

Fallon retaliated with Zayn Malik’s “Pillowtalk,” complete with – what else? – a pillow. He poured all (fake) emotions through his performance, just appropriate for the highly impassioned track. If the battle ended there, he could have been declared the winner.

But the comedienne wasn’t ready to give up yet. The best performance of the night was McCarthy’s lip sync rendition of “Colours of the Wind,” from the 1995 film “Pocahontas.” If Fallon had a pillow, McCarthy had glitters and feathers and stuffed animals.

The show’s host got suspicious when the guest star donned eye goggles, asking her what song she would be lip-syncing that required such accessory. He got his answer moments later when McCarthy was sprayed with water and had plush toys tossed at her. She might not be actually singing, but the number looked just as difficult to perform. She was blasted with feathers, flowers and leaves, and had confetti generously flung at her face.

The result was undeniable: McCarthy was the obvious winner.

McCarthy is starring in the comedy “The Boss,” which will hit Australian cinemas on April 14, with Kristen Bell and “Game of Thrones” star Peter Dinklage. Her husband, Ben Falcone, directed the film. She will also be seen in the “Ghostbusters” reboot with Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. It will be released in July.
