The Melbourne Writers Festival, which kicked off its celebration on Aug. 20, will be holding a multimedia conversation with one of TV’s esteemed directors, Gideon Raff. Raff, who writes and directs the U.S. adaptation of “Homeland,” will talk about his inspiration for the show.

The “ Melbourne Writers Festival is happy to announce on its official webpage that Raff will be attending one of the sessions on Thursday. The live event, which is made possible with the help of The Australian Jewish News, will be held at the Athenaeum Theatre at 6:30 p.m. Walkley winning journalist Rafael Epstein will be hosting the session.

Fans of “Homeland,” broadcast by the TV network Showtime, will get their chance to ask the Israeli film and TV director what they want to know about the show. Gideon is expected to share some details about his inspiration and different approaches to his episodes of “Homeland.” He will also talk about his other series “Prisoners of War.”

Interested fans are encouraged to enter their questions at the comments section of the event webpage. Those whose questions will be selected will reportedly be given a shout-out during Raff’s session.

Raff’s interview is expected to last for 75 minutes and tickets are available for purchase so fans can join in on the live telecast. For a fee of $45, fans can get the Keynote - Full ticket, while the Keynote - Concession ticket costs $35.

Aside from his participation in the Melbourne Writers Festival, Gideon will also be a guest at the writer’s panel discussion at the Sydney Jewish Writers Festival (SJWF). The two-day event, which starts on Saturday, will include other international writers and Australian authors as they talk about books and films.

SJWF festival director Michael Misrachi expressed his excitement at welcoming the “Homeland” director to Australia.

“Raff may not be a household name, but his work has been critically acclaimed and his shows have been global hits. Knowing the quality of his work and the fan base he has in Australia, it is so exciting that he will be in Australia,” Misrachi told The Australian Jewish News .
