In this week’s episode of “MasterChef Junior,” 22 of America’s youngest home cooks battle it out to avoid elimination. The judges start a massive food fight after a difficult dessert challenge as two contestants are sent home after the elimination round.

Last week, Jesse, Sam and Addison created the top three dishes. They get the privilege of battling it out for immunity through a super-sweet cupcake challenge. Sixty cupcakes are laid out in front of each of them, and in only 10 minutes, they are tasked to frost as many of the cupcakes as possible.

“MasterChef Junior” winner Logan Guleff, from Season 2, has been invited to be the guest judge. Apart from being safe from elimination, the winning contestant will also save one of the judges from getting a giant bag of frosting dumped on his/her head.

Addison is assigned to save judge Gordon Ramsay. Unfortunately, as much as she wants to win, she struggles with getting the frosting into her piping bag. She manages to frost only 10 cupcakes, meaning that she ends up dumping a giant batch of vanilla frosting on Gordon's head.

Jesse does only one better than Addison. He frosts 11 cupcakes perfectly, and Christina Tosi gets strawberry frosting dumped on her head. Winning by a landslide, Sam manages to complete 29 perfectly frosted cupcakes. Despite saving judge Graham Elliot, the other judges throw frosting at him, and all three of them end up looking like giant sticky deserts.

With Sam safely enjoying a giant cupcake in the balcony, the other contestants get their heads down for the elimination challenge. Following the sweet treats, everyone gets down to business, when Gordon brings out some fresh scallops.

He demonstrates how to shuck the scallops and he tells the kids that they have to do the same. After shucking and cleaning the shellfish, they each need to prepare a “MasterChef” worthy dish in only an hour.

In the end, Tae-Ho manages to impress the judges by using a Gordon Ramsay recipe. He serves pan seared scallops over a risotto garnished with jalapeno salsa, beetroot chips and brussels sprouts.

Vivian ends up in the bottom four after serving parmesan crusted scallops with lemon and lime couscous and bacon and corn relish. Her scallops are not seared properly and Christina finds the pairing with couscous quite odd.

Also in the bottom four is Kamilly. Her California scallops with spinach and avocado lime sauce served with quinoa didn’t impress the judges either. Luckily for both Kamilly and Vivian, two other young cooks have done worse.

Annabelle is sent home after her ambitious attempt to serve scallops two ways. Her scallop ceviche is watered down, and Gordon thinks that it lacks the punch of flavour typical in a ceviche. Unfortunately, her pan seared scallops with zucchini sauce were overcooked and were unable to redeem her dish.

Joining Annabelle on the trip home is Chad. He serves an Italian surf n’ turf dish that fails to impress. His spaghetti and meatballs simply don’t work with the star ingredient. His meatballs overpower the taste of the scallops and the shellfish got overcooked beside the meat.

Only 20 young cooks remain in the running towards becoming America’s next “MasterChef Junior.” The show airs every Friday at 8:00 p.m. ET on FOX.
