Rumoured "Mass Effect 4" is still far from its official release date due to the upcoming launch of "Dragon Age Inquisition." However, reports leaked out interesting information that there is a possible chance for players to use alien races as starting characters on the next game series. The return of the Asari, Turian and Krogan races from the "Mass Effect" trilogy can be expected as well, according to the report.

Alien Races As Playable Characters

Christian Today revealed that the upcoming "Mass Effect" game series could include alien races as an option to be used as playable character. This is not available on the "Mass Effect" trilogy where players can only use a human character with the default surname "Shepard."

However, according to the site, producer Mike Gamble cannot confirm or deny anything at this point regarding other playable races for the upcoming game. In "Mass Effect 1" to "Mass Effect 3," players can only choose between a human male and a human female as the playable character with allowed customisations on the physical appearance, class and talents and first name.

Return Of The Asari, Turian And Krogan

Another speculation on the upcoming "Mass Effect" game is the return of certain alien races, namely Asari, Turian And Krogan. In "Mass Effect 3," these alien races will survive the harvesting of the Reapers if the player chooses to activate the Crucible.

During the war against the Reapers, Asari's homeworld Thessia was against the full invasion of the Reapers while the Turian and the Krogan helped each other by saving the Turian home world of Palaven. Liara, Garrus and Wrex or Wreav will survive the final mission on Earth depending on Shepard's choices. In case these three alien races become available on the next game series, here are the possible bonuses a player can receive upon starting the game:

- Asari are natural biotics that could have bonuses on biotic talents unlike other races; playable as a female character only based on the game's background.

- Turian have militaristic and disciplined culture. Players could have bonuses on assault and sniper rifle weapons if they choose Turian as the main character.

- Krogan are tough and resilient; they survived the harsh environments of Tuchanka. If chosen, the main character could have bonuses on hit points and shotgun damage.

Other races featured on "Mass Effect" trilogy can also be nominated for the non-human playable characters. Notable alien characters allied with Shepard include the Drell Thane Krios, the Qurian Tali'Zorah nar Rayya and the Salarian Mordin Solus.
