'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' spoilers: Marvel announces six-part spinoff series; “Slingshot” dedicated to Inhuman agent Yo-yo Rodriguez [Trailer]

Christmas is fast approaching and the folks at Marvel have some sort of treat for its fans, particularly those of “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD.” On December 13, a new spinoff miniseries will premiere and it will star Agent Yo-Yo Rodriguez, who is also known in the Marvel Universe as Slingshot.

Marvel fans might have expected earlier that the next spin-off would star Gabriel Luna’s Ghost Rider, but Marvel has been giving lesser known characters their own names nowadays. “Slingshot” will start airing on December 13 and will feature the Inhuman agent on an undercover mission as viewers follow her on her new journey.

In the teaser, viewers are invited to witness Agent Yo-Yo’s undercover mission in an all-new, six-part miniseries. Once the new series goes live on December 13, it will be available to stream on the ABC app as well as in their website, ABC.com.

The series will star Natalia Cordova-Buckley, the Inhuman agent who has the uncanny ability to run really fast. The announcement also hits that she might be inviting over some of her friends from SHIELD to join her in her new stint.

Cordova-Buckley revealed that her upcoming spinoff will let the audience witness in-depth detail of Yo-Yo’s conquests, which occur between seasons 3 and 4 of “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD,” writes CBR. She also adds that viewers will witness a lot of her anger and pain get vented out with regard to certain injustices where she and her family have been victims. She also clarifies that, despite all these, her character does not lose her humanity and does not let her anger blind her.

This upcoming spinoff series will take place shortly before Season 4 of “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” returns in January 2017. The series will feature the super fast Elena “Yo-Yo” Rodriguez who must sign with the Sokovia Accords. However, the Sokovia Accords are repugnant to the personal convictions that she is desperate to fulfil.

“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. on ABC. The series is currently on break and returns with Episode 9 on January 10, 2017. “Slingshot” is set to premiere on December 13, 2016 on the ABC mobile app, as well as on ABC.com.
