The recent season of ended with Phil Coulson vacating his position as director, leaving it vacant for another agent to take over. Such was followed by a lot of fan ravings as to which of the co-agents should be chosen to succeed the top position.

Fan nominees for the vacant position were the more popular members which include Maria Hill, Melinda May, or maybe Agent Sharon Carter who played a very visible role in Marvel’s big project “Captain America Civil War.” However, the person set to be the new director is not who anyone might expect, of even know in the first place.

Instead, Marvel will be introducing a new character that will be played by Jason O’ Mara. The actor is quite experienced and could be familiar to some comic books fans as the voice of Batman in some of the animated films of DC. These include “Batman vs. Robin”, “Justice League: Throne of Atlantis”, “Justice League vs. Teen Titans” and a lot more. He has also appeared on TV in “Life on Mars” and “Terra Nova,” according to a report by Gizmodo.

Head of Television Jess Loeb, in talking about the choice for the casting, said in a press release that “bringing Jason into the mix as new director of S.H.I.E.L.D. would force everyone, more particularly Coulson, to reevaluate their role in the agency.” He adds that Jason has both the physical presence and acting dynamics that not only will connect with, but also challenge even the most loyal agent.
