After filming of “Thor: Ragnarok” has wrapped up in Queensland, comic book fans have something to look forward to as the world’s first large-scale Marvel exhibit is arriving to Brisbane.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced Sunday that the “Marvel: Creating the Cinematic Universe” exhibit will open to the public between May 27 to Sep. 3, 2017 at the Gallery of Modern Art in Brisbane.

“My Government has reinstated funding of up to $10.8 million for blockbusters at the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) and this is the first of many exciting outcomes,” she said.

The Marvel presentation will exhibit costumes of Marvel comic characters such as Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, the Hulk, Black Widow, Ant Man and the Guardians of the Galaxy, among others. It will also feature filming props and original artworks used in the Marvel comic books and films, including the upcoming movie “Thor: Ragnarok,” which stars Aussie actor Chris Hemsworth. "The filming of ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ in Brisbane’s CBD generated a Marvel buzz that is certain to continue with the opportunity for comic book and movie fans to exclusively view pieces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe,” the Queensland MP said.

For his part, Minister for Tourism and Major Events Kate Jones said “Marvel: Creating the Cinematic Universe” exhibit would reinforce Queensland’s reputation as a premier arts and cultural destination.

“This exhibition is another outstanding addition to Queensland’s world-class events calendar which draws thousands of visitors a year, helps grow our tourism industry and delivers jobs,” Jones said.

Concurrently acting as Minister for the Arts, Palaszczuk said she personally championed the project, knowing it will stir tourism and economic activities in Queensland.

“I have personally championed this project because I know it will draw visitors from across the country and the Asia-Pacific, meaning more tourism jobs for Queenslanders.”

Tickets for admission to the Marvel exhibit are now on sale at www.qagoma.qld.gov.au.
