The third season of “Marvel: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is scheduled to premiere on Sept. 29. In an interview, executive producers Maurissa Tancharoen and Jed Whedon were able to provide more insights and spoilers about the show.

Spoiler alert! This article contains “Marvel: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” spoilers.

Tancharoen tells Entertainment Weekly that the new season will be set three months after the end of the second season. There will be new partnerships and a new mission. Fans can expect the current state of the world and understand the time shift immediately. Whedon added that the mission will be clearer as more Inhumans surface. In the previous season, the fish oil on shelves was featured, suggesting that there will be more Inhumans appearing everywhere. The effect of the terrigen crystals and fish oil will also be explained in the first episode.

As for the beginning of the Secret Warriors team, Tancharoen said that the build will be slow and done in “very nascent stages.” Daisy (Chloe Bennet) will be the only power person in the team at the start. She will assume a leadership role within the Secret Warriors and will also be paired with Mack (Henry Simmons). At the moment, there are emerging threats that need to be addressed immediately, so putting a team together will require more time. S.H.I.E.L.D. will be aware of the Secret Warriors but there are expected conflicts that will arise with their presence.

Each character in Season 3 will try to relate with their humanity in a world where Inhumans keep appearing. Coulson will be at the center of it all. Another government agency will also be hunting Inhumans, led by a character played by Constance Zimmer (Quinn King in “UnREAL”). Hopefully, Coulson and the new character will cross each other’s paths. The head of Hydra, Ward (Brett Dalton), will also want to take out Coulson. He will be one of the team’s main problems.

The executive producers shared that they have plans to pit the team against a monster. They hinted that there might be more familiar Inhumans from the comics aside from Lash (Matthew Willig). May (Ming-Na Wen) and Bobbi (Adrianne Palicki) will also be appearing in the upcoming season.

“Marvel: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 3 will premiere on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 9/8c on ABC.
