Android 5.0 releases SDK Google

Advanced users of the Moto G 2014 smartphone can now experience the features of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop by installing the nightly build of CyanogenMod 12.1 custom firmware. It requires a rooted Moto G 2014 and ClockworkMod custom recovery to be installed.

Requirements:

1. Install this custom ROM to a rooted Motorola Moto G 2014 smartphone with ClockworkMod custom recovery. Do not apply this ROM to any other variants of Moto G.

2. Create a manual backup of all data stored on the device.

3. Battery level must be at least 80 per cent to avoid power interruption.

4. Enable USB debugging mode located in the Settings menu.

5. Install USB drivers to the computer for the Motorola Moto G 2014.

6. Download the CyanogenMod 12.1 Nightly Android 5.1.1 and Google Apps zip files for the Moto G 2014 on the computer.

Warning: We are not responsible for any issues which may occur on the Moto G smartphone. Read and follow the instructions carefully to avoid experiencing errors. Do this at your own risk.

Flashing Instructions:

1. Connect the Motorola Moto G 2014 smartphone to the computer using USB cable.

2. Copy and paste the CyanogenMod 12.1 custom ROM and the Google Apps zip files to the phone memory or microSD card of the device. No need to extract the zip files.

3. Switch off the smartphone and disconnect it from the computer.

4. Reboot into Recovery mode by pressing and holding the power and volume up keys at the same time.

5. Inside the Recovery mode, create a backup of the current ROM by selecting “backup and restore > backup.” Use the “restore” option to reverse any changes.

6. Wipe the smartphone by selecting “wipe data/factory reset” and “wipe cache partition” then select “advanced > wipe Dalvik cache.”

7. Install the CyanogenMod 12.1 custom ROM by selecting “install zip from SD card > choose zip from SD card > search for the zip file pasted earlier > confirm its installation.” Use this method to install the Google Apps zip file.

8. Once the installation has been completed, go back to the main menu and select “reboot system now.”
