Manchester City FC as well as Chelsea FC are looking to sign Swansea City FC's Ivory Coast striker Wilfried Bony in the January transfer market. Bony joined Swansea in the summer of 2013 and has scored 25 goals in the first season and seven so far this season.

Barclays Premier League champions Manchester City FC are in need of strikers. With all three strikers in Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Steven Jovetic injured City had to play the last three matches without an out and out striker. With Alvaro Negredo loaned out till the end of the season it is imperative that they get hold of a quality striker who could get them enough goals to win the league.

Chelsea on the other hand does not have a striker to support Diego Costa. Didier Drogba is 36 and not in a position to win them the league single handed. The third option Loic Remy has not been able to impress either the manager or the Chelsea faithful.

Wilfried Bony signed for a club record of AU $ 24 M (£ 12 M) and initially had a release clause of AU $ 38 M (£ 19 M) in his contract. Last November he was given a new contract until 2018 where the release clause was removed. It is believed that Swansea value there striking asset close to AU $ 100 M (£ 50 M) and a bid in that region should be enough for the Welsh club to cash in. Bony for his part will want a minimum deal of four years with around AU $ 10 M (£ 5 M) per year as salary.

Both Chelsea and City have a prolific striker in their ranks. By luring Bony either team could give themselves the edge over the other to win the Premier League this season.
