Manchester City and Liverpool will lock horns in the second leg of their Champions League quarterfinal at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night (Wednesday AEDT). Pep Guardiola's team is trying to overcome a 3-0 deficit after suffering a crushing loss at Anfield last week.

In Guardiola's words, his team has to "climb a mountain" to advance to the Final 4 of this year's Champions League. And he believes perfection is precisely what Manchester City need against their English rivals.

"To go through you have to make a perfect game, create chances, be clinical, and concede few chances. All the conditions have to be perfect. The result is tough, but we have 90 minutes and in football everything can happen. What we are going to do is try," Guardiola said on the eve of the game.

Manchester City, the reigning EPL champions, score goals like no other team in England. And that's why Guardiola believes his team claim a history-making victory against Jurgen Klopp's squad.

"We don't need to think about how many goals we score, we just need to score the first one. The perfect scenario is to go through, but park the emotional game. But the way that my players have played all season showed has what they can do. My team is extraordinary, it is top. My team is exceptional and it is a joy to be manager of this team," Guardiola added.

In Tuesday's other Champions League quarterfinal, Barcelona will try to close out AS Roma after claiming a 4-1 lead in last week's first leg. On Wednesday (Thursday AEDT), Bayern Munich will face Sevilla, and reigning champions Real Madrid will square off against Juventus.
