Buying a video game console should not be difficult at all. A person simply chooses his or her machine of choice depending on the games that will be available for that system, then goes to the counter of the video game store they're in and pay for said console. So one can only feel the confusion of Igor Baksht: a Denver man who bought a PlayStation 4 for his 13-year-old niece from Walmart only to discover two giant rocks in its place.

Had the purchase of this PlayStation 4 been through Craig's List or some sort of online purchase this would not be much of a surprise. The sad truth is people do get scammed online. There have been a multitude of stories as to how certain consoles have discounted prices from a particular online seller only to stop working during the first day. It is unfortunate, but that is the uneasy reality of that situation.

However, what made this story get headlines from Kotaku and Gamespot is that it happened in Walmart. The store is known for mostly good customer service and is one of the world's most well-known retail store. As of right now, there is no new information as to why someone simply filled a PlayStation 4 box with rocks.

While surprising, this kind of odd case has happened before and in Walmart no less. Abc 7 reports that there was a family getting ready to open their iPads and iPhones only to discover paper taking the places of the Apple devices. A boy from Alabama also faced something similar when he found rocks in his Nintendo 3DS bag.

Baksht had trouble returning the rocks to Walmart. The first time he tried the store was already closed. The second time he went to a 24-hour Walmart, but they told him to return it from the store he bought it from. Baksht then tried calling multiple Walmart offices, yet was told that there was nothing they could do. Finally on Christmas Eve the owner of the store called him and said that he would get his money back, which he did.

Looking back at it, Baksht did remember the customer service representative telling him that the box felt quite heavy. However, the Denver resident had never bought a game console before so he simply bought it anyway. Now he implores everyone buying from Walmart to always open the box first to see if what they want is really there, otherwise they will go through a similarly rocky experience.
