Microsoft has pulled out a major Windows 10 update meant for Lumia 950 users. The Windows 10 Mobile update version 10586.29 was removed from the servers after it displayed low-storage notifications.

After upgrading, few of the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950XL owners received false low-storage warnings in their devices. Following this, the Microsoft Community forum was flooded with comments regarding the same issue. As the lengthy thread reached 25 pages, Microsoft decided to respond.

“The team is working on fixes and improvements to the upgrade experience in the short term and with future releases,” said Mike Mongeau, Microsoft support forum moderator.

“In the meantime, we have unpublished the 10586.29 update for Windows 10 Mobile from our public update servers while we work through these reports,” added Mongeau.

According to Microsoft, owners of Lumia 950 and 950XL can “safely ignore” the low storage notifications. For those with pending updates, the company advised to continue with downloads and installations with the phone plugged in, reports GSM Arena.

Users who have successfully completed the installation process without glitch need not worry, says Microsoft. However, the forum posts reveal that few owners are yet to receive the update notification. There are also complaints that for few owners the update was stuck at 0%.

It is still not clear when Microsoft plans to relaunch the update. On the official Microsoft forum, Mongeau confirmed that the team is working on “fixes and improvements to upgrade the experience.”

Many users faced difficulty in resetting their devices to resume normal service. With Windows 10, Microsoft aims to revive its struggling mobile business. According to a report in IDC, Android (82.8 percent) holds the major share of smartphone OS market in Q2 2015. Windows Phone ranks third with its meager 2.6 percent market share after Apple’s iOS with 13.9 percent.
