The updated version of OS X Yosemite was released to solve the problems of Mac users with their Wi-Fi connectivity and the problem of connecting to Microsoft Exchange corporate email servers. The 311MB download of OS X 10.10.1 is the first Yosemite update since its release last October.

Aside from improving Wi-Fi reliability and Microsoft Exchange server connectivity, the updated Yosemite also intends to fix the unpredictable changes in the settings of Notification Center and Time Machine back-ups not appearing. The upgrade also deals with some updates refusing to show in the Mac App Store as well as failures in connecting to remote machines with Back to My Mac, Computer World reports.

For Apple and for Mac users as well, the issue with Wi-Fi connectivity is top on their list. However, Apple refused to give specifics on the changes they made to Yosemite neither did the giant tech company answered the numerous messages they encountered on several forums.

Despite the release of the updated Yosemite and its promise to solve the many issues encountered by Mac users, the number of threads on the forum on connectivity issues still went up within hours after the update's release. Users claimed that their Wi-Fi connections did not improve after they have downloaded the update. Some Mac users even complained that their Wi-Fi did not even connect at all while others claimed that their Macs already connect to WI-Fi though speeds are slower than it should be.

On the other hand, other users were successful with the update. According to ZDNet's technology journalist Ken Hess, the update worked for his Mac mini which is now awesome again. Hess also mentioned that the lesson in this whole issue is to never jump on any update before bugs are solved. The journalist even added that he had the same experience with Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack and Vista.

In addition, Apple also released the iOS 8.1.1 update which intends to improve the performance of old devices like the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4S. The 43MB update also includes bug fixes. OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 is free for download on Mac App store.
