On Jan 16, Microsoft revealed that the Lumia Denim update roll out has already started and very soon users will be upgrade to the new software. Through an official post on Lumia Conversations, the Redmond tech giant has revealed that after testing and approving the new Lumia updates with its partners, all the handsets running on Windows Phone 8.1 will be upgraded to Lumia Denim whereas the non-carrier handsets will directly receive the update.

Microsoft is releasing the Lumia Denim update in major markets like Asia Pacific, Africa, Europe Middle East, North America and Latin America. IBTimes claims that with the new announcement, Microsoft is aiming to provide the Lumia Denim update to all the Lumia devices by the end of first quarter of 2015. For selected countries like the U.S., the update is expected to arrive only after they are approved by the wireless carriers.

In the U.S., Lumia 822 and Lumia 928 available through Verizon can be updated to Lumia Denim. In the U.K., Lumia 520 (country variant and Everything Everywhere), Lumia 535 (country variant), Lumia 620 (Vodafone), Lumia 625, (country variant, Everything Everywhere and Vodafone editions) and Lumia 720 (country variant), Lumia 930 (Vodafone) and Lumia 1320 (country variant) are now receiving the Lumia Denim update.

The update has not arrived in countries like Australia, New Zealand and Canada. The entire list of countries to receive the Lumia Denim update can be accessed here.

Lumia Denim Update Features
According to IBTimes, Lumia Denim contains a whole lot of exciting features including the Windows Phone 8.1 updates like Cortana (digital voice assistant app), Live Folders for organising favourite apps on the Start Screen, updated Glance Screen will be able to display fitness details through MSN’s Health and Fitness app, enhanced IE (Internet Explorer) now offers quicker browsing experience and more. The Lumia Denim update also contains other features like SMS merging and forwarding, consumer VPN and more.

An updated edition of Lumia Camera is exclusively arriving for handsets like Lumia Icon, Lumia 1520, Lumia 930 and Lumia 830. The new camera app launches quickly than before and comes with innovative features like Rich Capture and Moment Capture. The update is not available for the famous Nokia Lumia 1020 smartphone that features 41 MP camera.
