Microsoft has released several midrange smartphones in the recent past and now the tech enthusiast are eagerly waiting for the arrival of the Lumia 940 (aka Lumia 950) and the Lumia 940 XL (aka Lumia 950 XL). Fresh rumours indicate that that both the flagships will be announced on Oct. 19.

According to Nokia Power User (NPU), an anonymous tipster has revealed that the Redmond giant will be holding a launch event in New York on Oct. 19 for announcing the Lumia 940 and 940 XL. Microsoft is also rumored to launch the Surface Pro 4 tablet and Microsoft Band 2 on the same date. Microsoft is also rumored to be announced some midrange smartphones in October.

The Redmond giant will make both the handsets available for purchase in some markets after the launch event. The Lumia 940 is expected to cost more than $600 and the Lumia 940 XL will be priced more than $649. NPU claims that the pricing details of both Lumia flagships have been revealed through their contacts from a Microsoft Mobile priority dealer.

The Microsoft Lumia 940 XL and Lumia 940 will be coming with Windows 10 Mobile onboard. It will be coming common features such as iris scanner, USB Type-C connector, 20 MP PureView technology powered rear camera, 5 MP selfie shooter and 32 GB of expandable storage.

The Lumia 940 will be a smaller device that will feature 5.2 inches full HD display. It will be powered by Snapdragon 808 chipset and 3 GB of RAM. On the other hand, the Lumia 940 XL will come with 5.7 inches Quad HD display. It will be powered by Snapdragon 810 chip.

As far as Surface Pro 4 is concerned, it will feature the Windows 10 OS and the new Skylake chip, Phone Arena reported. The details of the Microsoft Band 2 are unavailable yet.
