It has been rumoured that there will be a dramatic change in the size of Terrence Howard’s character Lucious Lyon in “Empire” Season 2, which will premiere on Fox on Sept. 23. However, a Fox representative said that there is no truth to the report.

It appears that Howard’s role will still be as big as it was in “Empire” Season 1. In a statement to Access Hollywood, the rep said, “Rumors that Terrence's role in ‘Empire’ will be scaled back are patently untrue, as audiences will see when the series returns Wednesday, September 23 on Fox.”

In “Empire” Season 1 finale, which aired on March 18, Lucious Lyon discovered that he was not really dying of ALS. After apologising to his son Jamal Lyon (Jussie Smollett) for the terrible things he has done, the FBI busted in and arrested him for the murder of Bunkie Williams (Antoine McKay), who is Cookie Lyon’s (Taraji P. Henson) cousin.

Among the guest stars to be featured in “Empire” Season 2 are Adam Rodriguez, Chris Rock, Ludacris, Pitbull, Mariah Carey, Kelly Rowland and Marisa Tomei. Gabourey Sidibe and Ta’Rhonda Jones, who played recurring roles Becky Williams and Porsha Taylor, respectively, were promoted as main cast members.

Meanwhile, for her role as Cookie Lyon, Henson won Best Actress in a Drama Series at the Critics Choice Television Awards. For the same role, she was also nominated for the category of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series along with Claire Danes, Viola Davis, Tatiana Maslany, Elisabeth Moss and Robin Wright at the Primetime Emmy Awards, which will be held on Sept. 20.

In other news, Fox is holding a competition across the United States to search for the new artist to be featured in “Empire” Season 2. Recently, auditions were held on College Street in Charlotte, N.C. Those who auditioned were asked to record a song on the “Empire” bus, Fox 46 reported.
