Morngingstar may have grown his angel wings, but he will continue to be a bad boy in “Lucifer” season 3. During the panel discussion at the San Diego Comic-Con, the producers/writers of the show teased that the theme of the plot this year will focus on identity.

Executive producer Joe Henderson explained that identity will be the main focus of the new season. In the previous finale, Morningstar woke up in the middle of the desert with two wings on his back. The character doesn’t know why they are there; he doesn’t like his wings, and he’s a little angry. The story will focus on how the Devil reacts when someone is telling him that he is something contrary to his image.

“Wanna tell me I’m an angel? I’m gonna prove to you how wrong you are!” Henderson said, pertaining to the reaction of Morningstar. On the question of why they decided to give the Devil his wings back, co-executive producer Ildy Modrovich said that during their discussion about the arc of the previous season, the end boiled down to identity.

Morningstar has cut off all ties to Heaven by severing his wings. Now that they have grown back, the question will be: who is he?

The new season will also introduce a new character. “Smallville” star Tom Welling will be joining the show as Lieutenant Marcus Pearce. The interesting aspect of this character is that he may have a crush on Detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German).

“Lucifer” season 3 is set to premiere on Oct. 2. The trailer of the new season shows the Devil partying like there’s no tomorrow. There will also be more action and madness. Morningstar will be back with Chloe to solve crimes in his own unique style.
