The casting of Tricia Helfer for “Lucifer” Season 2 as Morningstar’s mother raised a few eyebrows at the time of the announcement. The actress is just a few years older than Tom Ellis. A new report reveals why there isn’t much age difference between the mother and son on the show.

[Spoiler alert]

Charlotte (Tricia Helfer) escaped from Hell towards the end of the first season. Morningstar was tasked by God to find her and bring her back. She will be seen in Los Angeles in the next season, with the intention of spending some quality time with her sons.

However, the body she will chose as a vessel will be quite young. According to a report by TV Guide, this is because the character will be similar to “Stacey’s Mom” from the song by the rock band Fountains of Wayne. In the song a young boy is seen having a crush on his girlfriend’s mother.

Ellis apparently compared his character and Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) in “Lucifer” Season 2 to the character Stifler (Seann William Scott) from the “American Pie” movies. In the film, Stifler’s mother (Jennifer Coolidge) has an affair with one of her son’s friends, making things very awkward for the group.

The report explains that no one is going to “band camp” in the TV series, like “American Pie.” However, Morningstar will not be happy if his mother “hooked up” with any one of his friends. The report points out that the protagonist’s friend Dan (Kevin Alejandro) is still single.

“Lucifer” Season 2 is set to premiere on Sep. 19. The title of the first episode has been revealed to be “Everything’s Coming Up Lucifer.” The plot of the episode has not yet been released. More details about the show and the plot are expected to be announced in the coming days.
