Two University of Louisville football players were shot including two football players, at an off-campus apartment party early Sunday morning while celebrating Lamar Jackson’s Heisman Trophy win.

Police authorities received a call at around 2AM Sunday in the 1000 block of Manor Park Drive, an off-campus housing facility called The Retreat which is close to the Louisville campus. The officers were able to locate a male and female that had been shot. After which, the policemen described the injuries as none life threatening.

A witness said the dispute began with an argument at the apartment’s door and then continued into the street. “A few minutes later I heard chaos,” a Jefferson Community Technical College student, who said he attended the party, told USA Today. “It was five or six guys just going at it, fighting on one side and then I see a flash come from the other side. Then I just took cover.”

Jayvon Smith, a Louisville sophomore, told WHAS-11 that he lives just two doors down from the scene. Smith said students were gathering and celebrating Heisman Trophy recipient and sophomore UofL quarterback Lamar Jackson’s victory that evening into the early morning hours. He added that a lot of people started knocking on his door and telling him that there is a shooting going on. "It’s always someone who comes from out in the city that usually have weapons or that mean to do any type of harm or violence, but I just think the city of Louisville is really dangerous right now, crime is just happening and it's sad that it has to be involved on campus too."

Chelsea Roy, leasing and marketing manager at The Retreat, said the apartment complex is cooperating with Louisvllle Metro Police Department in the investigation and referred all other questions to police. Roy would not confirm the time of incident or any other details.

According to Police Chief Steve Conrad, 500 people have been shot in Louisville through November this year.
