The Los Angeles Clippers (7-11) will host the Los Angeles Lakers (8-11) Monday (Tuesday in Australia) in an inter-city clash at the Staples Center. The teams will battle for the second time in the 2017-18 season after the Clippers hammered the Lakers 108-92 in an opening night clash on Oct. 19.

Since the season-opener, both teams have undergone a lot of changes. While the young Lakers have made rapid strides towards a potential playoff berth, the Clippers have been struck with injuries to Patrick Beverley Milos Teodosic, and Danilo Gallinari, three players who were a part of the starting line-up at the start of the season. In the absence of point guards, Beverley and Teodosic, the Clippers have been forced to start Austin Rivers at the 1 spot and move career sixth man Lou Williams into the starting rotation.

Despite all the injuries, the Clippers enter Monday's contest on the back of a two-game winning streak, having defeated the Sacramento Kings on Saturday and the Atlanta Hawks last Wednesday. Franchise star Blake Griffin still believes the team has the ability to make the playoffs.

"We'll take wins how we can get them. And I would say even if we hadn't lost nine straight, it's the NBA, if you have a chance to win at the end, you take it. We played how we should play, and if that wasn't a good lesson for us, I don't know what will (be)," Griffin said after Saturday's 97-95 win over the Kings.

Meanwhile, the Lakers continue to deal with the inconsistent performances of highly-touted rookie point guard Lonzo Ball. Though Ball has made history by becoming the youngest player in NBA history to register a triple-double, the 6-foot-6 guard is shooting a league-low 31 percent from the floor and 25 percent from the three-point range. Despite his shooting woes, the Lakers have rejected the idea of bringing Ball off the bench.

"You get little opportunities here and there and you grow from those. You have vets that kind of take you under their wing and show you how it's done at this level, and it's more of a patient process," Lakers coach Luke Walton said, addressing Ball's inconsistent form. The Lakers will also get Larry Nance Jr. returning to the team after missing nearly a month of action with a hand injury.
