The Sony Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact are on pre-orders in Australia that started last October 1, but the actual release date is still not confirmed. Local carriers are, however offering the device on pre-orders. According to Optus they will deliver the devices on October 9. Telstra said that the Sony handsets will be available from October 14.

The Sony Xperia Z3 is the same as the Z2 with 5.2 inches screen. Completely waterproof with the Quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor the Z3 Compact has the same specifications except for the screen size that is 4.6 inches. The main attractive feature is the PS4 integration. Games can be streamed and played on the Xperia Z3.

The Xperia Z3 will cost AU$849 and the Xperia Z3 Compact will be available for AU$699 according to Sony. However, the local telecom plans and prices for these devices are as follows.

Optus

The Xperia Z3 will cost AU$73 per month. This includes AU$13 for repayment for the handset and AU$60 is for the plan with 2.5 GB of data. The total cost a customer would pay in 24 months would be AU$ 1,752.

The Xperia Z3 Compact is priced at AU$68 per month that includes AU$8 as a repayment on the handset and AU$60 for the plan with 2.5 GB of data. Total cost on this handset for two years will be AU$1,632.

As a limited period offer Optus will give away the PS4 with these devices. The Xperia Z3 and the Z3 Compact will be delivered from October 9. Optus does not have an outright price on these devices.

Telstra

The Xperia Z3 is priced at AU$80 per month that includes AU$10 as handset repayment and AU$70 for the plan with 1.5GB of data that adds up to AU$1,920 for 2 years. Outright purchase on the handset will cost AU$816, which is a discounted price.

The Xperia Z3 Compact will cost AU$3 for the handset repayment and AU$69 for the plan that includes 1.5 GB of data. Total cost over two year will be AU$1,728.

Both the devices will be available from October 14 and pre-orders have begun last October 7. Outright cost of the Xperia Z3 Compact is AU$600.

Vodafone

The Xperia Z3 is offered at AU$84 price plan which includes AU$4 for the handset repayment and AU$80 for the plan with 1 GB of data for 24 months. Total cost for 2 years is AU$2,016.

Vodafone has mentioned on its website that the Xperia Z3 Compact will be offered by them. However, they have not mentioned the date when it will be available.

Virgin

Xperia Z3 is offered at AU$55 plan that includes AU$15 for the handset repayment and AU$40 for the plan that includes 2.5 GB of data. There 2GB of data and a further bonus 2GB if switching carriers. Total minimum cost is AU$1,320 and the first 100 pre-orders get a PS4 as bonus.
