After confirming her role as Belle in the upcoming live-action “Beauty and the Beast,” Emma Watson finally found his Beast in “Downtown Abbey’s” Dan Stevens. Known for his roles in “The Guest,” “Night At The Museum 3” and “A Walk Among The Tombstones,” Stevens snapped the role opposite the “Harry Potter” album as he will play the dual role as Prince and Beast.

Here are the five awesome things to know about Emma Watson’s Beast, Dan Stevens.

The 32-year-old British hunk is internationally known from his breakout role as Matthew Crawley in British period drama “Downtown Abbey.” The actor left the popular series after finishing the show’s third season and the Christmas Special in 2012 to pursue a career in the big screen. His exit from the show created a lot of uproar with fans venting out their disappointments on social media.

“Have I had a good time [since leaving]? Yes,” the actor admitted after leaving behind “Downtown Abbey.” “Would I have enjoyed it if I had stayed? Possibly. Possibly not. Without getting into contract stuff [he left during contract-renewal discussions], it's no secret that's what it was. It was a big choice to make at the time. But quite an exciting one."

  1. Born in Croydon, London, the dapper hunk was raised by parents who were both teachers as he grew up in Wales and Southeast England. He became interested in theatre arts after he auditioned in his school for a title role in “Macbeth.” He was spotted by director Peter Hall after he played alongside Hall’s daughter at a Marlowe Society production of “Macbeth.”
  2. Stevens started his professional acting career when he was cast as Orlando in Hall’s touring production of Shakespeare’s “As You Like It.” He also played as Nick Guest in “The Line of Beauty” and Edward Ferrars in BBC adaptation of Jane Austen’s novel, “Sense & Sensibility.”
  3. The actor met his wife (Susie Hariet) in 2006 when they both appeared at different theatres in Sheffield. The couple tied the know in 2009 and have a daughter named Willow, born in 2009 and son named Aubrey, born in 2012.
  4. The actor’s closest friend is “Sherlock’s” star Benedict Cumberbatch. He is also good friends with his Cambridge University school mates “Thor’s” Tom Hiddleston, Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne and “Iron Man 3” star Rebecca Hall.
