To celebrate the release of “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain,” Sony has announced new costume packs for “LittleBigPlanet 3,” based on the acclaimed stealth game by Hideo Kojima. Fans can choose to buy the “Metal Gear Solid V” costume pack in its entirety or simply purchase individual costumes if they aren’t fans of certain characters or if they want specific costumes.

Most of the costumes are nods to some of the gameplay mechanics of “The Phantom Pain,” like the dog or the boxes that Snake uses to hide from enemies. The PlayStation Blog has also stated that the box costume for Toggle is only available when purchasing the complete “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain” costume pack.

It’s something of a tradition for the “LittleBigPlanet” games to get costumes based on other popular video games or media. Other game costumes seen in previous titles in the series include “Killzone,” “Final Fantasy VII” and “Jak and Daxter.” The games have also had costume packs based on characters from Marvel and DC Comics, like Spider-Man and Super-Man.

While the trailer has Toggle sneaking up on his friends in full costume, it should be noted that the costumes don’t really change the gameplay. They’re mostly fun diversions for fans of the other games and nothing more.

Game Zone stated that the costume pack would be available to those that have downloaded the latest update for “LittleBigPlanet 3.” This shouldn’t be much of a problem, since the PlayStation 4 automatically downloads updates for games.

“Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain” has been universally praised by critics and gamers alike. Many have stated that it’s a game of the year candidate and is one of the best games in the entire “Metal Gear Solid” saga.

As most fans know, “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain” is Hideo Kojima’s swan song for the series, as the renowned creator has left Konami. The company has stated that there could be more “Metal Gear Solid” games in the future, but that the focus is now on mobile gaming.
