"Maleficent," based on Sleeping Beauty, isn't the only Disney film that is set for the big screen this year. Beauty & the Beast directed by Guillermo Del Toro is also set for production starring the one and only Emma Watson. Of course, another Disney film is set for a live adaptation which is set to be directed by Sofia Coppola. Two actresses are now eyed by fans for the role namely Emma Watson and Anna Kendrick but who is the best pick?

Sofia Coppola is set to direct the live adaptation of the Little Mermaid. A lot of fans have already named a few worthy stars for the part of Ariel and these include Emma Watson and Anna Kendrick. First is Emma Watson who had long been eyed for the role of the red-head mermaid.

Late in February, reports claimed Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe would join forces once more for the live adaptation of the Little Mermaid. However, the reports were deemed false as it was merely a repetition of MuggleNet's April Fool's joke.

"A few hours ago it was confirmed that Emma Watson was chosen to play the role of Ariel in The Little Mermaid. But that's not all! Prince Eric will be played by Daniel Radcliffe! This new production of Disney's animated classic is planned for release in 2015 and will be a live action telling filmed digitally in 3D," reads the report by Buzznet.com.

Of course, this still has not stopped fans from wanting the "Harry Potter" star on board Coppola's film. This could be a long shot but still possible given Watson worked with Coppola in "Bling Ring." During an interview at the red carpet premiere of "Noah," Watson talked about possibly starring in the Little Mermaid.

"I mean I'd have to read it first," said Watson (via LA Times), adding, "I love Sofia so much."

However, it appears that Watson has tough competition for the role of Ariel following Anna Kendrick's SNL stint. The "Pitch Perfect" star dressed up as Ariel and sung a few songs that definitely prove she's worthy of the Disney role.
