Lindsay Lohan was put under house arrest after showing up in Lynwood Jail Thursday over the necklace theft case she was embroiled with since February this year. Lohan started the day early going to the jail county Thursday at 5 a.m.

She was not expected to turn herself in until June over the jewelry case hurled against her by the Kamofie & Co over the $2,500 necklace she was seen taking with her unpaid, as she left the Venice Jewelry store.

The Sun said Lohan left the county jail an hour after she was fitted an ankle that will monitor her every moves while under house arrest.

Lohan was sentenced last May 11 to a 120-day in jail over the necklace case. She was given until June 17 by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner to voluntarily surrender herself to serve her sentence.

But CNN International is reporting that not only was Lohan got a ‘discount’ on her original sentence from 120 to 35 days, the actress was allowed to serve them at home. Lohan was visibly upset upon learning she would spend days in jail and her lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley had done everything in her power to make sure the Parent Trap actress never sent behind bars.

According to Los Angeles County Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore, Lohan wanted to begin serving her time three weeks ahead the date set by the court.

Whitmore said, according to CNN International was fitted the ankle and was freed an hour later to begin her sentence.

Authorities explained that Lohan was allowed to be under house arrest due to prison overcrowding. The situation at the facility also paved the way for shorter jail time from 120 days down from between 14 and 35 days.
