Liam Neeson finally confesses identity of mystery girlfriend
Liam Neeson has unavoidably fired up speculations about the identity of his girlfriend when he recently revealed he is dating an “incredibly famous” woman. Names have been suggested, including Kristen Stewart, Susan Sarandon, Halle Berry, Charlize Theron and Diane Lane. However, the 63-year-old “Taken” star has now set the record straight, finally admitting the truth about the mystery woman.
In an interview with the Irish Sunday Independent, Neeson said he is now dating someone, almost seven years after the death of his wife, actress Natasha Richardson. He refused to name the woman, though, saying she would be embarrassed to be identified because she is “incredibly famous.”
“I’ll have to do my best for her. It’s amazing how far a simple bunch of freshly picked flowers will go in a lady’s life, I find,” he told the paper.
As expected, people have been trying to guess the identity of his love interest since the interview was published. Jezebel had a theory suggesting “Twilight” actress Stewart was the woman, citing Neeson and Stewart’s appearance at a nightclub in January. It admitted, though, that it got the dates mixed up.
Unsurprisingly, Neeson blasted the report as “stupid,” his rep told Gossip Cop.
Nevertheless, one wrong guess didn’t stop people from speculating more. To put an end this madness once and for all, Neeson has finally confessed that he was just joking when he said his girlfriend was famous.
“He was joking with the writer during an interview he was doing with the Irish Independent,” his rep told Mirror Celebs.
What he was serious about was there is really a special someone in his heart currently. She just isn’t famous as he led everyone to believe.
As far as the media knew, the Irish A-list Hollywood star only had one girlfriend after his wife’s sudden death in 2009. He dated PR executive Freya St Johnston, but their relationship ended in 2012.
Richardson suffered severe head injury in a skiing accident in Montreal, Canada, in March 2009. She died a few hours later. She had two sons with Neeson.
