Apparently, Ad Duplex published the market stats report pertaining to “Windows Phones” in December 2014. However, interestingly, that report had highlighted an unknown device with the codename LG VW820. The new LG VW820 was reportedly running Microsoft's mobile-based Windows OS. It is worth noting that, LG makes Android devices and going by the new Windows Phone name under LG brand, it is evident that the tech giant is planning to try out the new OS for a change.

In the meantime, a new report states that, a listing from the company’s own Website reportedly shows the LG VW820. Notably, the aforementioned codename was listed in two areas of the listing and apparently, both were tagged under “the use of open source licenses.” Technically, GSM Arena says, the “open source license” is not the area where anyone would associate a device running the Microsoft Windows OS. Nevertheless, this listing confirms the fact that the upcoming LG device with codename VW820 does exist.

To top it off, the LG VW820 handset has also been certified by the Bluetooth SIG. And this particular code name has reportedly been tagged as a "mobile phone.” Even though, there is not much information available on this new device, the LG VW820 will reportedly come with a pocket-friendly 4.7-inch display packed with a modest screen resolution of 480 x 854 pixels, notes GSM Arena citing an earlier report. This display combination clearly shows that the upcoming LG Windows Phone will not be a high-end device, rather the tech giant is gearing up to release a budget-friendly handset.

On the other hand, GSM Arena says, LG's official documents are referring the VW820 smartphone as a "Windows Phone” and therefore, the chances of this handset running the upcoming Windows 10 is questionable. This is predominantly because, Microsoft has reportedly dropped the moniker "Phone" as part of the Windows OS name and that’s precisely why the new OS version is referred as “Windows 10” instead of “Windows Phone 10.” This also means that, the LG Windows Phone will likely come with “Windows Phone 8.1 OS,” straight out of the box. GSM Arena also reminds that, earlier rumours had pointed to a LG Windows Phone under Verizon network and therefore, LG VW820 could be that device. Nonetheless, LG has not confirmed the new device's specifications or any other information so far.
