After numerous leaks, including a pre-launch press render, LG has officially launched the LG Q6. The new handset sports a FullVision display, just like the flagship G6. The device is the frontrunner of the company’s all-new Q series midrange smartphones.

The latest Q series roster is set to pack premium specs at modest price points, according to LG. The first handset from the new line-up certainly has the essential features of its premium smartphone, the G6. All the flagship’s goodies are packed in the Q6’s sleek, minimalist and metallic frame.

The Q6 line includes three variants: the Q6α, Q6 and Q6+. Each unit furnishes a FullVision display but varies in memory and storage. The Q6α – the most affordable among the three – packs 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage while the median Q6 comes with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of ROM. The Q6+ has the best package with its 4 GB RAM and 64 GB of storage.

Just like premium smartphones, the Q6 sports minimised bezels and should be the first mid-priced handset with such feature. Users can fully take advantage of the 5.5-inch Full HD display that has an 18:9 aspect ratio. The handset’s curves and rounded corners match the edges of the FullVision panel. For easy unlocking, the device comes with LG’s own face recognition technology.

For optics, the new handset boasts of a 5 MP 100-degree wide angle front-facing camera and a 13 MP standard angle rear shooter. LG assures that the Q6 not only is well-equipped and reasonably priced, it’s also durable. The minimalist design of the phone doesn’t necessarily equate to minimised fortitude.

“The metal frame surrounding the Q6 is constructed of ultra-strong 7000 series aluminium, one of the highest strength aluminium alloys available and used extensively in industries such as aerospace,” according to the South Korean tech titan. “The device is subjected to LG’s demanding regimen of over 20 battery tests which include heat, penetration and shock – conditions more stringent than international testing protocols.”

Speaking of batteries, the LGQ6 packs 3,000 mAh cell. The new phone also comes with Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box. The Q6α, Q6 and Q6+ will be available in key Asian markets starting next month – with Europe, Latin America and North America to follow suit. LG has yet to reveal official pricing so stay connected with IBTimes Australia for updates.
